Icons Cursors Pointers
 
create your first icon
 
 
To start off we will be using the Text to create icons.  The main reason is its fast and the image is predrawn.
 
Don't be afraid to play in the program and try new things.
 
Icons attached to you email will show up as viewable.  Cursors will not be viewable.
 
 
Tut 1
  1. Open IconArt program
  2. Click File Choose New Project
  3. It opens on the Icon tab with Single Frame highlighted.  Leave it there and click the Accept button.
  4. Choose a color from the colors on the right of your grid work area.  Note brighter colors show up better.
  5. Click the T in the menu above which is the text button.
  6. Type a letter, just one letter and drop down the arrow above the letter to choose a dingbat font.
  7. Change the size of the font on the right of the font name to fill your preview but stay within your boundaries.
  8. Use the little arrows below your letter to move it to the right or left or up and down to center in your preview.
  9. Choose Bold or click to make it not bold.  Not bold will give more detail.
  10. Click Apply
  11. Click the .ico in the menu above to save it.
You just made your first icon.  Congratulations.
 
  1. Leaving IconArt open from the previous (if you didn't repeat steps 1-10 above)
  2. Click Arrow bottom of left tool icons.
  3. Choose a color to change to.
  4. Click on one of the pixels in your image and all pixels that color will change to the color you just chose.
  5. You can choose another color and click another color in your image to change more.
 
  1. Click the pen tool top left of tool icons.
  2. Choose either to shadow or highlight your image.  Shadow of course would be darker and highlight would be lighter.
  3. Either dot or drag the pen where you want this color to be.
 
To change the Mask color Click the color you want it to be.  Click the arrow below Mask.
Click File choose New Project
 
 
Note: Listed under Help on the extras... if you downloaded icon packs They will be in a folder named pack within the IA program C:/Program Files/ConWare/Packs and you will see zipped files. Right Click and extract those files. reopen IA and they are ready to use simply click file/open and go to the path above to find them.
